It’s pretty fitting that the first Shoorah Shoorah necklace I made was for my best friend - the boldest woman I know and a true partner in crime. After a fair few instagram hearts and requests for commissions, Shoorah Shoorah was born.
It is an unusual passion, knots, but I love them. I’ve loved them ever since the first friendship bracelet graced my wrist in the 90s and then, after my Aunty Nancy handed down to me a vintage macrame book, I got knotting myself.
And I love rope. I have tested, twisted and turned every rope you can imagine to find the perfect partner for my designs and it turns out I really like the big bright kind that looks like giant sweets when you knot it. Yum.
The final ingredient in this story are the strong women who have blasted from my stereo for years and have inspired the collection.
Thank you Betty for shaking up every party; thank you Stevie, for continuing to rock (and for the Chain. Thank god for The Chain!) To Janis, for my best voice karaoke song and to Tina - Proud Mary changed my life.
For all the strong women in my life, on my stereo and those who wear my jewellery. This is for you.
